Boston Children’s Hospital’s sterling reputation has earned it the nation’s silver medal for pediatric care, according to the U.S. News and World Report list.
After finishing first in the nation for the past nine years, Boston Children’s Hospital was surpassed by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for the top ranking.
The list analyzes three-major areas to determine their final ranking: clinical outcomes (such as survival rate after surgery), efficient coordination of care (like hand-washing protocols and equity amongst hospital staff) and care-related resources like staffing and outpatient programs.
U.S. News also named their top hospital for each pediatric specialty. BCH finished in the top spot for Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and GI surgery, and Neurology and Neurosurgery.
