Body recovered from Lake Quinsigamond after reported drowning, officials confirm

First responders gather at Shrewsbury lake in search for missing man

SHREWSBURY, Mass. — The body of a missing individual was recovered from Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury Monday morning, according to authorities.

Officers were called to the area of Sunset Beach just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday after a 911 caller reported that a man was possibly drowning in the lake, according to the Shrewsbury Police Department.

The search for the individual was resumed at 8 a.m. and the individual was recovered around 11 a.m.

Members from Worcester Fire Dive Team, Fire District 14 Dive Team, Environmental Police, and Mass Sate Police all worked in the effort to locate the individual, according to Shrewsbury Fire Chief Seth Colby.

More information on the incident is expected to be released by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
