Big Sister Association of Greater Boston makes push for more mentors

BOSTON — January is National Mentoring Month and the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston has launched the “31 Big Days” campaign. The goal is to recruit 31 Big Sisters.

“We’ve got a few hundred girls on waitlists today looking for their Big Sister,” said CEO Big Sister Association of Boston CEO, Annissa Essaibi-George. “And it’s so important that we have those Big Sisters lined up ready to be partnered, ready to really impact the lives of young girls across the greater Boston area.”

Essaibi-George says there are many ways adult women can give back within this organization.

“…whether it’s that one-on-one, traditional mentoring, whether it’s being serving as a big for just a day, or getting involved in some of our school-based efforts,” she said.

Essaibi-George says their mantra is you don’t have to be perfect, just present.
