LAWRENCE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The city of Lawrence has been transformed into a scene straight out of the 1920s.
The changes are all for the Ben Affleck movie, "Live By Night," which he wrote, and is directing and starring in. The movie is shooting several scenes in Lawrence, starting Nov. 12 and going through the 23 of the month.
The whole place @col1853 has gone 20's. If only ragtime music played on the streets. @BenAffleck @danrivera01843 pic.twitter.com/rpih7JCO2t

On Thursday, the first day of filming, 1920s style cars were all over the streets.
The city said Lawrence was selected due to its early 20th century architecture that fits well with the 1920's era theme. Besides filming downtown, there will also be scenes shot on private land.
According to IMBD, the movie is set in the Prohibition Era and follows a group and tier role in the world of organized crime and is based on the novel by Dennis Lehane. The movie stars Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana, Elle Faning, Chris Messina and Ben Affleck.
The city is receiving $100,000 for the project and the production company is covering all costs, including police, fire and parking.
The move is set to be in theaters in 2017.
