MANCHESTER, N.H. — Four people were taken to a local hospital after a shooting happened on a New Hampshire highway in Manchester Friday.
The Manchester Police Department told Boston 25 they received reports of a shooting at 1:45 a.m. near the Jewel Nightclub. At the same time, police were alerted that a vehicle arrived at Elliot Hospital and dropped off four gunshot victims. Officers responded to both Elliot Hospital and Jewel Nightclub to further investigate the incident.
While police were at the hospital, it was determined the victims, who are suffering non-life-threatening injuries, attended a performance at the Jewel Nightclub early Thursday evening.
After leaving the club, they were victims of a drive-by shooting on Interstate 293 southbound on the Exit 2 off-ramp in Manchester. The vehicle involved has been described as a white box-style vehicle, possibly a Dodge.
While at the nightclub, Officer Alexandros Hondros heard a gunshot and then saw a blue Audi speed down the street. The officer pursued the vehicle while requesting assistance.
Ofc. Hondros conducted a felony motor vehicle stop, but during the stop, the suspect drove away, which resulted in police following the vehicle once again.
The vehicle later crashed at a dead-end street, backed up into a parked pick-up truck, and drove into Ofc. Hondros’ cruiser.
Shortly after, 21-year-old Dy’vee Spencer and 21-year-old Jose Jusino, both of Springfield, Massachusetts, were arrested. Spencer is facing charges for reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, conduct after an accident, resisting arrest, and disobeying a police officer. Jusino is facing charges for resisting arrest.
Ofc. Hondros was transported to a nearby hospital and has since been released.
Manchester Police told Boston 25 the investigation into the shooting is ongoing and is being conducted by the New Hampshire State Police. It is unclear if the two incidents are connected, police say.
