3-day Susan G. Komen Walk in Boston raises over $2 million for breast cancer research

BOSTON — After three days and over $2 million dollars raised, the three-day Susan G. Komen Walk in Boston came to a conclusion.

Over 850 passionate walkers began the 60-mile walk on Friday morning before finishing Sunday afternoon, raising $2.1 million for breast cancer research.

“We express our heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering commitment and dedication of our incredible 3-Day family,” said Paula Schneider, Komen’s president and CEO. “Every step taken during the 3-Day brings us closer to ending breast cancer forever. The generosity and dedication of the New England 3-Day community will make a profound impact on research and provide vital support for those fighting breast cancer now and in the future.”

Each participant raised a minimum of $2,300 and walked 20 miles a day.

The Susan G. Komen New England 3-Day event has raised $47.9 million since its inception, contributing to Komen’s $1.1 billion investment in breakthrough research and more than $2.3 billion for real-time support for breast cancer patients.
