1 person dead as police continue to investigate 2 crime scenes within a half-mile in Boston

BOSTON — Police are investigating two crime scenes in Boston, including one where a person was shot to death late Thursday night, officials said.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting in the area of 5 Leyland Street in Dorchester shortly before midnight found a gunshot victim, according to the Boston Police Department.

The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives were notified, but as of Friday morning, no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.

While detectives scoured the area for evidence, another set of officers rushed over to Dunmore Street, which is about a half mile away in Roxbury.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a white car behind a church with several bullet holes in the windshield. They were then flagged down by a victim near East Cottage Street, who reported being involved in an armed carjacking.

There were no injuries reported in the alleged carjacking.

It’s not clear if these two incidents are connected.

Investigations remain ongoing at both scenes.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
