Local elderly woman hogtied during robbery

BROCKTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – An elderly woman was hogtied in her Brockton home Tuesday while she was being robbed.
The 89-year-old woman was inside her Pleasant Street home when a man knocked on the door around noon and asked to use her phone. She let the man in and he proceeded to tie her up with scarves and an electrical cord. After she was hogtied, she asked the man if he was going to kill her. He said he didn’t want to hurt her, but he did ransack her home and stole several pieces of jewelry before he left.
Even though she was tied up, the woman was able to crawl out of her front door to scream for help. Two construction workers rushed to her aid, and police were called.
One of her neighbors, who has known the woman throughout his entire life, was shocked by the news.
"This is really upsetting," neighbor Doug Forrester said. "She is one of the neighborhood moms around here."
The woman was taken to the hospital with cuts on her wrists and ankles from being tied up.

Police have launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made. The suspect is believed to be in his 40s with dark skin and a scruffy, long beard. Anyone with information is urged to call police at 508-941-0234.
