Kids allegedly given toilet bowl cleaner while trick-or-treating

HOPKINTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Kids in Hopkinton were given some suspicious items on Halloween.

At about 4:40 p.m. Monday, Hopkinton police sent an alert saying that they are investigating two incidents where parents reported that their kids were given a toilet bowl cleaner product while trick-or-treating.

A Hopkinton mom asked that we not show her face, but says she found the toilet bowl cleaner while going through the candy her 6-year-old son collected while trick-or-treating near his home.

"I immediately said this needs to go to the police station and I wrote down the addresses where they went trick or treating and brought it right to the station," she said.

Hopkinton police told FOX25 that the mother of a 14-year-old boy who trick-or-treated in some of the same streets found the exact same thing in her son's Halloween haul.

"It was scary, it was very scary you know," the mom said.

According to police, the blue-ish disc inside the wrapper is a highly toxic toilet bowl cleaner made with harsh chemicals that you're not supposed to touch let alone eat.

The mother we spoke with says she has no idea who may have given her son the poisonous disc and she's just glad she found it before he did.

"I was shocked you never think its going to happen to you," she said.
