MEDFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The inaugural Miss Amazing Pageant in Massachusetts was held Saturday evening in Medfield.
The pageant is a national pageant for girls and young women with disabilities, and is run by a nonprofit group that organizes the event in more than 20 states.
Contestants aged five to 35 are eligible to participate, and the event includes talent and interview portions. A "queen" was chosen from each age group to represent Massachusetts for the year, and each contestant received a "princess crown" and trophy.
In November, FOX 25's Mark Ockerbloom sat down with the pageant's state director, 16-year-old Medfield High School sophomore Andrea Nevins, and contestant Katie DiBlasio to discuss the event.
Nevins described the event as a "positive day for everyone, not only for the contestants, but also for volunteers."
Pageant participants are from around Massachusetts, including Walpole, Norfolk, Hingham, Weston, Attleboro, Oxford, North Adams, and others, according to a press release from the organization.
There was no entrance or participation fee for the pageant, though people were asked to bring three cans of food to donate to the Medfield Food Cupboard.
