Massachusetts making progress vaccinating residents

BOSTON — Even though it’s a holiday, mass vaccination sites will be busy. Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium are booked up through Monday, but there are still plenty of openings later this week.

According to CIC Health, the Cambridge-based company running the two mass vaccination sites, there are more than 6,000 appointments available through Sunday at Gillette.

Looking at the latest vaccination numbers, Massachusetts is making some progress. There have been 1,517,300 doses shipped to Massachusetts. So far, 73.7% percent of those have been administered.

According to the state’s latest numbers, 829,419 people got their first shot while 288,955 people have received both doses.

Supply has been the biggest issue in getting more people vaccinated.

Over the weekend, Gov. Charlie Baker said the state has the capacity to administer 242,000 vaccine doses per week---but has been receiving less than half of that.

On top of the four mass vaccination sites currently operating across Massachusetts, one opens at Worcester State University on Tuesday. Next week, two more mass vaccination sites will open up in Dartmouth and Natick.
