BOSTON — Masks will be required and supplied to anyone attending President Trump’s rally Friday at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, the campaign said Thursday.
“In accordance with State of New Hampshire Emergency Order 63, masks are required and will be provided to all attendees,” the Trump campaign announced in an email.
Fresh off the Republican National Convention, President Trump will speak to supporters at Pro Star Aviation in North Londonderry.
It will be the president’s first campaign event since formally accepting the Republican nomination for president.
“I just hope he can talk some sense into some of these people,” Republican voter Paul Cote said Thursday night in Manchester.
Cote said he’s turned off by the violent protests in Wisconsin and professional athletes, including the Boston Celtics, boycotting games in the name of social justice.
“We’ve got to be one country. And you’ve either got to be part of the country or—excuse me, if you don’t like it, get out,” Cote said.
Robert Barbery, a Democrat, just wants the President to explain how he’s going to help workers like him.
“The economy, and what’s going on—if they’re getting any closer to a vaccine,” Barbery said.
Barbery has worked at the Torched Pizzeria in Manchester for three years. When the pandemic hit earlier this year, Barbery’s hours were drastically reduced.
“We’re only working like 20-25 hours a week here, and it’s kind of tough, you know?” Barbery said.
Bradley and Ginger LaBarre are newlyweds who don’t always agree on politics. Bradley is a Democrat, Ginger is a Republican.
But the couple said they won’t be watching the President’s speech Friday night.
“So many things that come out of his mouth are unsubstantiated, there’s just nothing to back it. When you do a little research you can see he’s wrong on so many things,” Ginger said.
Boston 25 News contacted local Democratic and Republican leaders in Londonderry and Manchester for comment.
“The Republican convention so far has been disconnected from reality,” Londonderry Democratic Committee Chair Tam Siekmann wrote in an email. “They can’t tell the truth about President Trump’s chaos, so instead they told lies about his failed record on health care, the economy, foreign policy, and even about his support of veterans.”
Republican committee leaders did not immediately respond to Boston 25 News’ request for comment Thursday night.
President Trump’s event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Doors open at 3 p.m.
