Handicapped puppy born to rescued dachshund finally finds home

CLINTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Billie, a handicapped puppy born to one of 71 rescued dachshunds, was the only pup from her litter left at the shelter. Until Tuesday! Billie is now getting comfortable in her forever home!

Earlier this year, 71 dachshunds were rescued from a Westminster home after being found in terrible condition. One of the dogs turned out to be pregnant, and shortly after arriving at the MSPCA's adoption shelter, she gave birth to a litter of 3 puppies. One of the pups, Billie, was born with a malformed spine. She has trouble using her hind legs, but those who know her say her playful personality more than makes up for her handicap.

Billie was the last of her litter and all 71 dachshunds to be adopted. However, the MSPCA announced Tuesday that Billie has found her forever home. After FOX25 shared Billie's story, more than 400 people called to inquire about adopting her. Billie is now snuggling with Diane Molinari  and Tina Petras in their Clinton home. They own another dachshund, Maxwell, and a rat terrier, Stanley, who are looking forward to welcoming Billie into their pack.
