Green Line train derails at Blandford Street

A Green Line train derailed near Blandford Street on Saturday morning, according to the MBTA.

No passengers were aboard the train, which was out of service when it derailed a stop away from Kenmore, according to an official spokesperson for the MBTA.

No injuries were reported.

A two-car train was moving from a side track near Blandford Street to the main line when the second car derailed. The track was not damaged in the incident, but it blocked the tracks in both directions.

The first announcement of a derailment came at 10:19 a.m., with the MBTA notifying riders on Twitter that delays of up to 20 minutes were expected.

Busses from Route 57 replaced the B Train between Kenmore and BU East.

"It's been pretty rough," said Eric Green, a commuter. "Like a month ago they had construction at Reservoir, so we were taking shuttles for a while so just public transportation hasn’t been the best for us.”

Crews were working late into the evening to move the train off the tracks.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
