BOSTON - After years of frustration under the Red Sox Curse, not only was it broken, but one lifelong fan cashed out on his favorite players.
Jim Aylward, of Templeton, won $100,000 playing the Massachusetts State Lottery using the jersey numbers of five key Red Sox players from this year's team.
After the Sox won the franchise's fourth World Series since breaking the curse, Aylward apparently felt good about the team and put the numbers on his lottery ticket for a November 5 drawing.
Aylward, who has five children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, picked up his check today from his winning ticket with the combination 11-16-19-22-25.
