MANCHESTER, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Manchester, NH man is in jail after police said he snatched a woman's laptop bag in a crowded cafe and good Samaritans stepped in to stop him.
Police said the victim was inside the Dancing Lion Chocolate shop Tuesday morning when Richard Hardy snatched her laptop off a table and ran out the door.
"I took off out the door after him," Dancing Lion owner Richard Tango-Lowy told FOX25. "A couple of guys were on the street, looking, and I yelled, 'hey, grab that guy'!"
Joel Gill, who teaches at a nearby college, was walking down Elm Street when he heard Tango-Lowy's cries.
"He was literally running right toward me," Gill said when he saw Hardy with the bag. "So I just reached out and grabbed him."
Gill grappled with Hardy, and managed to snatch the victim's bag back.
Police said Hardy continued running, and was chased by another man into an alley, where a police officer was able to respond and make an arrest.
"I actually at that time remember being a little bit surprised that these guys were just jumping into it," Tango-Lowy said of all the people who stepped in to help.
