Friday night armed robbery leaves one shot in Lowell

An armed robbery in Lowell turned into a shooting that sent one man to an area hospital, according to an official release from the city’s police department.

Officers responded to the scene at 79 Phoenix Ave in Lowell at 6:30 on Saturday night, finding the wounded man and having him transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Law enforcement described the suspect as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and wearing a black ski mask, a long brown jacket and green gloves. He allegedly stole a silver Hyundai from the location of the armed robbery.

Tewksbury Police eventually recovered the vehicle on 495 North.
