WORCESTER, Mass. — Containers on a freight train struck the underside of a bridge in Worcester Tuesday morning.
The train, from Providence Worcester Railroad, appeared to have slightly lost contact with the rails when the containers hit the bridge and leaned over.
According to a spokesperson for the company, there is no concern for the bridge.
Spokesperson Michael Williams told Boston 25 News the Massachusetts Department of Transportation was on scene to investigate.
It’s unclear why the train did not meet the height requirement for the bridge.
This is the second time in as many months a train has truck that overpass.
An engineer on a CSX train was injured in July when a train hit the overpass and 15 cars were knocked off the tracks.
