Franklin woman decorates pink tree for breast cancer awareness month

FRANKLIN, Mass. — Every night, from now through the end of October, there will be a pink glowing tree in the front yard of one Franklin home.

"I know so many people who have been affected by cancer and wish so badly for a cure," said Laura Kleinmeyer Mccarthy.

Every year, Laura puts on a large Christmas display in her yard, and each time she tries to do something new. This year, she decided to start a little early and do a pink tree in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

She posted her plan in a community page for Franklin, and quickly someone  volunteered to make ornaments. People can come by and write name or messages on the ornaments.

Laura will light up the tree, which is wrapped in pink Christmas lights, every night in October and again in December with her Christmas display.

"(I) just hope that in someway the tree and ornaments can help someone feel better and to honor the women who have battled and are battling breast cancer," Laura said.

Laura's grandmother lost her three sisters to breast cancer.

The tree can be viewed on Hayden Lane in Franklin, and people are welcome to go buy and add a message to it.
