Former Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo's dog missing in Wrentham

WRENTHAM, Mass. — Wrentham Police are searching for a missing dog belonging to former New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo.

Police were called to Joe's Rock, the conservation area off of West Street, for a report of a lost dog around 8 p.m. on Thursday night.

The English bulldog named Knox was being walked with another dog by a trainer from Cranston, Rhode Island.

The trainer then lost track of Knox while taking care of the other dog, and Knox disappeared.

The trainer called police, who responded and searched the area.

Police say English bulldogs aren't generally runners with their short legs and bad cardio, which makes his disappearance a unique one.

Knox's electronic collar was found quickly after he went missing in pristine condition, but no one was around and no blood, fur or sounds were noticed near the collar to suggest that Knox was attacked.

Police are asking for help in finding Knox, and say you can call them at 508-384-2121 with any information.
