PROVINCETOWN, Mass. — The Coast Guard and Provincetown Fire Department rescued a fisherman who fell overboard Saturday morning.
Just after 7 a.m. Saturday, the captain of a scallop boat alerted the Coast Guard that a 24-year-old fisherman fell overboard and became entangled in fishing gear. The man was able to free himself, resurfaced and was recovered by the boat crew.
Coast Guard crews arrived on scene with a medical technician from Provincetown Fire to check the man's condition. The fisherman was transferred to the Coast Guard boat which was met by an Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew. The crew hoisted the man and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital.
Coast Guard officials say his last known condition was conscious and stable.
