WINTHROP, Mass. — A police officer was injured as firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire on Pauline Street on Wednesday night.

The police officer, who was treated on scene, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. He has since been released from the hospital.

Police asked motorists to avoid Pauline Street from Walden to Pleasant and the area of Wheelock and Waldemar.
