BOSTON (AP) - The family of a Boston University graduate student killed while riding his bicycle after he was struck by a truck has sued the driver and the trucking company.
In the suit filed in Suffolk Superior Court, 23-year-old Christopher Weigl's family says the crash last December was the result of negligence on the part of the driver, and the company that employs him, New Hampshire-based Ross Express.
The suit said the company has a responsibility to train drivers to watch for cyclists in urban areas. It seeks unspecified damages.
The family tells
Weigl's death was preventable.
Prosecutors say the case remains under investigation and the driver has not been charged.
Ross Express did not respond to email and telephone requests for comment.
