Ernie Boch Jr. selling off several dealerships

NORWOOD, Mass (MyFoxBoston.com) -  “Letterman retired. Jay retired. I figured it was my time,” said Automile mogul Ernie Boch Jr.
He is not getting out of the car business completely, but he is selling some of his flagship dealerships.
“I have been stepping back the last few years. And I just thought it was a good time. And I have the utmost confidence in the people that will be running the deal,” said Boch.
Boch plans to hang on to his Maserati and Ferrari dealerships, and he will remain CEO of Subaru New England, which is a big job in of itself.
“Subaru of New England, or the six states of New England, sell more than China,” Boch said.
He will also remain spokesperson for the sold off properties, so he will remain a fixture on local television commercials. Marketing experts say that is a smart move on Boch’s part.
“He's an absolute showman. He understands this market,” said Bentley University Marketing professor Ian Cross. “In this competitive car market, to have your name out in front of people as a name and a brand you can trust is vital.”
Since his father’s death, he has been the personality behind the product. While his hands may now be largely out of the Automile, he says he really is not going anywhere.
“I think that everybody should come on down,” Boch said.
