Emerson student beat up at party now fighting for his life

BOSTON — An Emerson student is currently fighting for his life after his family says he was beaten up outside a party during the weekend.

Several students at the college told Boston 25 News they heard about the serious fight, but an Emerson spokesperson said it's too early for them to comment during this critical time for the student's family.

The student, a sophomore at Emerson College, graduated from Hopedale High School where he played lacrosse.

The Hopedale Lacross team shared a link to a website where the family has posted more details of what actually happened.

According to the victim's family, the student was leaving a party when a group of guys started a physical altercation with him. Eventually, he hit his head on the concrete, suffering a blood clot in his brain.

Now, the student is recovering at a Boston hospital after undergoing surgery. On Monday afternoon, however, the boy's mother said his brain damage might be too severe for her son to survive, writing:

"Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We ask that you focus on the positive: his infectious smile, his goofy sense of humor, his love for music, hockey, lacrosse and most importantly his love for his friends and family."

Boston Police said they responded to an assault and battery incident in Brighton over the weekend, but were unable to confirm if any arrests had been made.
