PROVIDENCE, R.I. — As part of a test, some Dunkin Donuts in the Providence area, including Bristol County, are eliminating nearly 30 menu items.

Dunkin Donuts told Boston 25 News that this new streamlined menu will emphasize its signature drinks and food, reducing complexity. It also intends to enhance speed or service and in-store operations.

"Dunkin’ Donuts is constantly testing and innovating. Our intent is to simplify the menu to make it easier for our customers to order their favorite products, and to make it easier for our crew members to serve our guests quickly and accurately," a Dunkin Donuts spokesperson said.

Dunkin Donuts also said it selected specific menu items to eliminate based on "extensive consumer research."

The new menu is being tested in a number of markets starting Aug. 7, including Providence. Dunkin Donuts said Boston shops will not be affected.
