DA's office confirms identity of burned human remains

SALISBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – The Plymouth County District attorney's office has officially identified the partial human remains discovered in Bridgewater and Hyde Park.

District Attorney Timothy Cruz said the remains belong to 24-year-old Dennis R. Jackson, of Haverhill.

FOX 25's Ted Daniel learned Jackson's identity through family and friends who had posted on social media and a memorial Website.

A New Jersey woman, who identifies herself as Jackson's sister, set up a memorial Website on Nov. 17 and posted a news article about the remains.

"Dennis Ray Jackson's life was cut short at the age of 24. He leaves behind three children, his mother, father and sisters," the woman wrote.

Daniel also learned investigators were looking for a 25-year-old rapper named Reggie Cummings from the North Shore in connection with Jackson's death.

Mass. State Police served a search warrant at a Salisbury home rented by Cummings last Friday. The warrant was issued as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

That investigation involves limbs and other human body parts set on fire Nov. 13 and left to burn on the grounds of the Bridgewater State Psychiatric Hospital. The next morning, a torched torso was found in Hyde Park. Investigators believe the remains were from the apparent victim of a murder.

Jackson was an associate of Cummings and was known to stay at Cummings' Salisbury apartment. Nobody has seen Jackson or been able to contact him since about the time the body parts were discovered.

Investigators had searched and removed items from Cummings' home. While FOX 25 does not know all that was found when police searched the apartment, a source told Daniel that it was a mess except for the upstairs bathroom. The source said a shower curtain and a floor rug were missing and the bathroom had been wiped clean.
