CONCORD, N.H. — Search crews say they've found the body of a kayaker who went missing in the Merrimack River in Concord, New Hampshire.
A kayak trip for two brothers began early Thursday morning. When they both went under, near Sewalls Falls, only one made it out safely.
As the kayaks began to sink, the brothers, identified as Sean Donahue, 24 and Alec Bronchuk, 20, both of Merrimack, NH, got out of the kayaks and tried swimming with the current towards the western shoreline.
Donahue was able to swim to a rock about 20 feet from shore, while Bronchuk, the victim, was last seen also attempting to swim to shore.
Donahue walked along the shoreline in an attempt to find his brother, and after unsuccessfully searching the nearby area, he found someone who called 911.
Officials began searching for Bronchuk at around 7 a.m. on Thursday.
At around 2:45 p.m. on Friday, emergency responders recovered Bronchuk's body about 1/3 of a mile downriver from where he was last seen and approximately 30 yards from shore.
