BOSTON (AP) - Two men have pleaded not guilty in the alleged hazing of five Boston University students at an off-campus fraternity in April.
Jesse Kay of Allston was arraigned Wednesday in Brighton District Court on assault and hazing charges. Kay's attorney is seeking to have the charges dismissed. Prosecutors said 21-year-old Spencer Davidson pleaded not guilty to the same charges last week.
Charges against two others were downgraded to civil infractions Wednesday and they agreed to pay fines. Arraignments for four others facing lesser criminal charges were postponed.
Prosecutors say the alleged victims were told to duct-tape themselves together, strip to their underwear and had chili sauce and condiments poured on them. Police responding to a noise complaint found them in at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, which wasn't sanctioned by BU. The national fraternity closed the chapter afterward.
