AUBURN, Mass. — A couple was arrested Thursday for shoplifting $400 in LEGO sets from an Auburn Toys "R" Us.

According to police, Christopher Thompson and Debra Bleu-Slattery were stopped by officers after exiting the store and found to be in possession of seven LEGO set boxes.

The couple was in court to face larceny charges on Friday.

A few days earlier, Toys "R" Us security told Boston 25 News two men stole large amounts of LEGO sets from the store.

Detective Vincent Ross set up surveillance in the area the next day and observed Thompson returning to the store.

The other male suspect has not been identified yet, according to police.

Police prosecutor Heather Newell explained why LEGO are becoming easy targets for shoplifters.

"They're definitely hitting the Walmarts and the K-Marts. They're smaller items and expensive items and they're easily resold on Craigslist and eBay," said Newell.

A collector’s edition of the Millennium Falcon is valued at $3,600 on Amazon.

“As usual when you purchase something that is brand new, coming into the market, of course it has value to it, the value that you pay for it, even if it’s a little extra,” said Juan Calderon, a Toys R Us shopper.
