KEENE, NH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A correctional officer from New Hampshire was arrested on Thursday after an investigation into drugs allegedly being smuggled into the Cheshire County Jail.
Shane Stockwell, 23, of Swanzey, was arrested and charged with the delivery of articles prohibited following the investigation. Stockwell is accused of providing direct assistance to a person outside of the jail who was smuggling drugs into the jail for inmates.
On Wednesday, surveillance conducted at the jail revealed evidence being placed into a Correctional Guard's vehicle and later being picked up by the correctional officer. The correctional officer was then confronted by detectives and was not allowed back into the facility.
Stockwell was employed as a correctional guard for over a year and has since been terminated from his position. He was released on $2,500 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on August 1.
