CHISM TRIAL: Chilling last moments of Danvers teacher's life shown in court

SALEM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Danvers teen accused of murdering a high school teacher was found competent in court on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Philip Chism refused to leave his holding cell. Just a day later, the teen changed his mind and told the judge he wanted to remain in the courtroom for his trial.

Chism watched as the jury saw a series of surveillance video clips from Danvers High School.

As a Danvers Police school resource officer was on the stand, the courtroom saw Colleen Ritzer walking down the hallway to a second floor bathroom. After she leaves the frame, Chism is seen looking down the hallway, taking a few steps forward, then backtracking.

Chism is seen again with his hood on, walking toward the bathroom. Then, Colleen is seen walking into the bathroom. Chism is seen following her inside and putting on a pair of gloves. He was in there for 11 minutes.

He's seen again late, hood still on, with a hand covered in blood and carrying something.

A Danvers high school mother also took the stand and described seeing Chism in the bushes. "He looked like he was changing," the mother testified.

FOX25 will be in the courtroom as the trial resumes Thursday morning. Don't forget to follow Bob Ward for live updates from court.
