MEDWAY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The parents of a three-year-old boy say he is lucky to be alive after he got hit by a car at the corner of Sanford and Village Streets in Medway.

"I fell off of my bike and went on a helicopter," the little boy, Liam, told FOX25's Malini Basu.

Liam and his dad, Matthew, went for a ride early Thursday morning, hoping to beat traffic. Matthew was on a bike with a trailer attached that Liam sat inside of.

Matthew said the pair were coming up to a stop sign and making a left in traffic when a woman in a jeep slammed right into the trailer.

"I look back to see him sort of screaming on the ground," Matthew said.

A Medway police officer driving to work witnessed the whole accident and was able to help Liam, who ended up with two broken fingers and a small scratch on his face.

Liam's parents say that his helmet helped to save his life.

Police say the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
