Burlington hotel guests heard woman's screams, gunshots

BURLINGTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) - Police are investigating the death of a woman at a Burlington hotel overnight on Thursday.

Just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Burlington police received a 911 call from the front desk of the Extended Stay America hotel near the Burlington Mall. Guests reported hearing a woman's screams, and what sounded like gunshots inside the hotel, according to the Middlesex district attorney's office.

Hotel guest Vikram Rohroa said, "A woman was screaming like, 'help me, help me.'"

Officers arrived at the hotel and conducted a room-to-room search, and found a woman dead in one of the guest rooms. The woman is believed to be in her 30's, sources told FOX25.

During the day Thursday, two police cruisers were outside the hotel and crime tape was set up around the parking lot. Representatives from the district attorney's office arrived on scene at around noon. A state police crime unit van also arrived Thursday afternoon, and the hotel remained an active crime scene into Thursday night.

As of Thursday evening, officials had been unable to identify the woman.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said it did not appear that the woman's death was a suicide, but they were awaiting autopsy results from the medical examiner.

Sources tell FOX25 they're trying to figure out if the victim was working a deal on Craigslist or a similar site. No additional details were given, including if an arrest had been made in connection with her death.
