DAMASCUS, Syria — The brother of a Syrian boy whose stunned, soot-caked face was widely circulated on social media has died.

Ali Daqneesh, 10, died Saturday of injuries he sustained in an airstrike earlier in the week, according to CNN.

In the live footage, Omran Daqneesh, 5, is seen with an open head wound, looking down at his bloody hand before he is transported to an ambulance.

The image captures the horror the civil war in the northern city has wrought. More than 400,000 people, including 41,000 children, have been killed during the unrest, according to CBS News.
