SAUGUS, Mass. — A 12-year-old boy recently left the hospital after he crashed his bike in Saugus and was impaled by a tree branch.
The crash happened last Thursday at the Breakheart Reservation where Mas Travassos was riding on a paved trail with an adult.
“He's riding the bike in the park, he falls and the tree in the chest,” Mason’s grandmother Serafino Luis said.
After being rushed to the hospital, doctors had to perform surgery to remove the branch from his chest.
Mason was released from hospital after several days and is now recovering at home with his mother.
“Now, he's happy, play the games, now he's better,” Luis said.
