Boston's first recreational pot shop granted provisional retail license

BOSTON — On Wednesday, the Cannabis Control Commission voted to approve a provisional license to the first recreational cannabis shop located in the city of Boston.

According to a CCC spokesperson, Pure Oasis, LLC, located in Dorchester, is the first retail pot shop in the city to be given the provisional license as well as the first Economic Empowerment Applicant to receive such a license.

However, this doesn't mean they can already open for business.

Once approved, Pure Oasis will have to pay the required license fee, undergo a post-provisional inspection, begin registering marijuana establishment agents and fingerprint staff and meet certain conditions the CCC has established for the license.

When the provisional licensee is ready for a final license vote, that information will be posted again as part of a notice that goes out 48 hours prior to the Commission's public meeting.

Finally, for a recreational shop to open its doors, the CCC must again inspect the business and the shop must ensure all inventory is properly tagged and uploaded into the seed-to-sale tracking system (Metrc).

CCC staff will then confirm that certain conditions placed on the final license have been met. The retail shop should also make sure that all agents working in the establishment are successfully registered and properly badged.

At that point, the CCC will issue the business a notice that allows them to start their operations.
