Woman facing murder charge for Dorchester stabbing

DORCHESTER, Mass. — Boston police have charged a woman with murder for stabbing her boyfriend to death.

The stabbing was reported around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the area of 5 Nightingale St. Officers arrived and found 28-year-old Anthony Sinclair with stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.  They arrested his girlfriend, 25-year-old  Valerie Cirilo-Perez of Dorchester, on a murder charge.

Cirilo-Perez told officers she stabbed Sinclair after he attacked her.

Cirilo-Perez works for College Bound Dorchester, a program that helps inner-city youth stay on track to becoming college grads. In a written statement, the agency said, "Valerie Cirilo worked in the financial department at College Bound Dorchester. The staff is heartbroken by the news and offers condolences to all parties and their families."

Neighbors said they were surprised when they heard the news Tuesday morning, describing the couple as very nice people.

Cirilo-Perez is being held without bail. She's scheduled to be back in Dorchester District Court next month.
