Boston-based girl group opens for Cardi B in sold-out show

PASO ROBLES, Cali. — It was truly a dream come true for four local girls when they got the opportunity to be the opening performers for a Cardi B show in California.

Boston 25 News first reported on the Boston-based R&B/pop girl group X's & O's, comprised of Jazmine Alexis, 16, Kay Kay, 19, Gaby, 16 and Skye, 16 when they first nabbed the opportunity to open for the best-selling female rapper on the radio today.

What the group didn't anticipate, however, was that the concert they would be performing at, which took place this past weekend, would sell out completely.

Set at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, California, the stage has seen big names such as Lynryd Skynyrd, Billy Idol, Blake Shelton, Matchbox Twenty and many more.

The girls have been keeping themselves busy this past year writing music, singing and rehearsing.

Last year, in August, they sang the national anthem at a Red Sox game. That same summer they had a top 15 hit on Radio Disney.

"These girls have sacrificed so much, not only have they sacrificed so much but their families [as well]," said Mike Caputo, the group's manager and producer.

While there's never been a girl group to come out of the Boston area and into the limelight, X's & O's is on the track to change history.
