Bicyclist struck by car in Sandwich

SANDWICH, Mass. — Sandwich police are investigating after a man was hit by a car while riding his bike Sunday evening.

Sandwich Fire Department was called to Ploughed Neck Road and Route 6A around 7:30 p.m. Fire officials found a man unconscious in the road.

Witnesses say he was hit by a car and thrown from his bike. He was stabilized on scene, but was still unconscious and in critical condition when transported to Sandwich High School where he was taken by Med Flight to Rhode Island Hospital.

He has not been identified, but officials say he is a man in his mid-twenties from the Cape.

No additional information was available. Sandwich police are investigating.
