Bellingham stabbing suspect arrested by SWAT team

BELLINGHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – The SWAT team used flash bombs to take down a stabbing suspect in Bellingham Monday night.

The suspect, 30-year-old Ryan Tate, allegedly barricaded himself inside a condo at the Maple Brook Condominiums.

The SWAT team surrounded the condo for several hours before deploying the flash bombs.

“He was taken in to custody. He did fight with the officers last night; I believe they may have deployed a Taser on him. Also his mental status was in question so he was taken to Milford for an evaluation,” a Bellingham police official said.

The victim, Tate's father, was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries.

Tate is being held at Milford Medical Center and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon on charges including Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property.
