Alleged drunk driver smashes into cars in Roslindale

BOSTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Residents on Sycamore Street in Roslindale are furious after an alleged drunk driver smashed into multiple parked cars, sending one of those cars into a home.

Justina Genes, who lives at 181 Sycamore St., said the noise from the damage woke her and the whole neighborhood up.

"It was like a bomb, like an explosion. It just went boom!" she said.

The early Sunday crash left a car on the front steps of Patricia Bertucci's home.

"When I opened the door, I couldn't believe it," the said. "The car [was] right across there," she said, pointing to the house's porch.

In total, four cars were wrecked after the driver of a black car careened down Sycamore Street at 5 a.m. The car was driving so fast, neighbors say, that it slammed into an SUV, then a Volvo, and then it hit a black Nissan, launching it some 50 feet onto the front porch of the Bertucci's home.

"I ran out the front door and there was a car up here, three or four cars destroyed over there," Dave Bertucci said.

The driver ended up on the Bertucci's side yard. Neighbors say there was a strong smell of alcohol on his breath.

Though no one was injured, residents say that cars speeding down their street is nothing new.

"You take your life into your own hands when you go out to your car," Dave Bertucci said. "It's ridiculous."
