PLAINFIELD, Mass. — State police are investigating after a 9-year-old girl got stuck in the door of her school bus then was dragged and hit by that bus.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. after the girl was dropped off at her home on South Central Street in Plainfield.
Police say the girl was not clear of the door as it closed, then got caught and was dragged as the bus pulled away.
The girl’s name has not been released, but state police said she was a student at a school in the area.
Police say there were several other children on the bus at the time of the incident.
The male driver is being interviewed by state police.
A selectman from the town told FOX25 this is a "very sad" incident for everyone, especially since it's a small town of less than 600 people.
The incident remains under investigation.
