Boston Police investigating triple shooting in Dorchester

BOSTON — Boston Police are currently investigating a shooting Dorchester that injured three people.

Authorities reported the call to 81 Draper Street was first reported at 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers arrived to the scene and found more than a dozen shell casings but no victims. It turned out the victims got to Boston Medical Center on their own, without requesting an ambulance or any help.

Wednesday night, two of the victims were listed in critical condition.

On Thursday morning, Boston Police say those victims now have non-life threatening injuries.

Boston 25 News learned that one of the shooting victims, Domingos DaRosa is a former city council candidate.

DaRosa rushed back to the scene of the crime while still wearing his hospital gown, and bleeding from a gunshot wound to the leg.

He spoke to detectives to explain what exactly happened, and then about 90 minutes later, re-emerged fully dressed again, ready to speak to a reporter about the moment he and his brother were shot and how they hopped on a truck and raced to the hospital.

"I was shot in the leg," said DaRosa. "All of a sudden I hear a gunshot and then after that it's all a blur. I got grazed in the leg, I found that out after the fact. My younger brother was hit and he explained to me that he was hit and I went into survival mode. I picked him up and we flew to the hospital."

DaRosa says he doesn't know who the third victim is or why they were all shot, but he says he's sick of all this violence.

A neighbor told Boston 25 News he was walking home from work when he heard multiple gunshots and then saw at least two men speeding away in a black truck. He says it happened less than 100 feet away from his house.

"I saw a couple of guys run into a pick-up truck, a black pick-up truck," said Phil Banasek, a resident.

Banasek says police lights and crime scene tape are unusual for his street, but now worries that is no longer the case.

"The neighborhood's not the best neighborhood but it's safe, I don't feel scared walking down the streets at all," said Banasek.

Preliminary investigation suggests this incident may be gang-related.
