Wild weather brings snow, rain, wind, and sand

HAMPTON BEACH, N.H. — As wind, snow and rain pummeled Hampton Beach, New Hampshire even folks who live here and are used to bad weather thought it was a bit much.

“It was sloppy, it was slamming, it was not something you want to be out in,” said Gideon Dominick who lives close to the beach.

The combination of high tides and a full moon flooded streets here.

“That’s on the backside that’s on the marsh. You got a full moon so that plays into it. Every time we have a full moon.. we usually — there’s flooding,” said Mark LeLande who lives in Hampton Beach.

Sky25 took a tour of the aftermath along the Sea Coast of New Hampshire. Part of the route 1A collapsed in Rye and in Hampton where the sun — not to be outdone, made a dramatic return.

Hampton Beach builds giant sand dunes along the beach every year to stop the waves that pound the shoreline from Nor’easters. But today’s storm blew in from a different direction and a blew sand - not water - right up over the seawall and into the parking lot covering it and several cars.

Cars were sandblasted by mother nature.

“To be honest it does it sometimes. It’s wild to see it in action,” said Dominick.

And according to LeLande if you live by the ocean, this all comes with the territory.

“My wife said it was horrible up here we had some siding blew off the house. Normal routine thing if you’re at the beach. That’s what happens,” said LeLande.
