2 more arrested in gruesome Marshfield murder

MARSHFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Marshfield police have arrested two more people in connection with the murder of a man last month.

Officials arrested Michael Moscaritolo, an attorney from Quincy, for the murder of Robert McKenna, 43. Moscaritolo's girlfriend Lauren Kalil, 31, of Quincy, was arrested on a charge of accessory after the fact of murder for allegedly hiding evidence that would have implicated Moscaritolo, officials said.

McKenna was found dead on Sept. 16, by a friend at his home on Damons Point Road. He had died from extreme blood loss due to injuries to his head, arms and hands, officials said.

Less than two weeks after the crime, James Ferguson of Dorchester was arraigned on murder and burglary charges. Police said DNA evidence on clothing near the crime scene led them to Ferguson, who was in the Combined DNA Index System, a database that contains past offenders' profiles.

"Attorney Michael Moscaritolo and James Ferguson have ruined a lot of people's lives, and now they have officially ruined their own," Marshfield Police Chief Phil Tavares said. "They face life behind bars."

Both Moscaritolo and Kalil will be arraigned on Tuesday in Plymouth District Court. Ferguson is currently being held in jail without bail.

Officials did not discuss the connection between the trio of suspects and the victim, stating only that the fatal crime started as a burglary.

Neighbors told FOX25 last month McKenna had said he was involved in the diamond industry in Africa and owns precious gems. Cruz said Friday investigators are aware of the diamonds but did not say whether any was missing.

However, five stolen guns, four of them belonging to McKenna, have since been recovered.

"To the residents of Marshfield, sleep well tonight," Tavares said. "Those dangerous assault rifles are off the street."

The investigation is ongoing and there could be other suspects at large, officials say.
