Man dies after being shot in Dorchester on Wednesday night

BOSTON — A man shot in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood on Wednesday night has died, police say.

The shooting happened at around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Magnolia Street and, so far, police have made no arrests. At the scene, officers found an adult man suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Neighbors tell Boston 25 News they heard five consecutive shots, saying they didn’t see anyone running after hearing the shots ring out.

Some of the residents say the neighborhood is becoming too dangerous and they are ready to leave, while others say it’s getting better - the perspective just depends on who you ask.

“Just imagine, another shooting, October and May - I’m tired, I’m leaving Dorchester,” said one neighbor.

“No issues, lived here all my life, [the] neighborhood has changed for the better,” said another Dorchester resident.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries but was later pronounced dead.

Police have not yet released a description of any suspects.

No further details have been released.
