TEWKSBURY, Mass. — One man was flown to the hospital Monday after suffering serious burns in a house fire on South Rhoda Street.
A neighbor told FOX25 he saw the 84-year-old man run outside with his clothes flaming, and jumped into action.
“He was pretty much on fire at the doorway, his daughter had him and she was yelling and screaming,” Mike Squires said. “I just ran over and put him out, tearing his shirt off and stuff.”
The flames began just before 8 p.m. and firefighters said they were largely coming from the back of the house.
The man's daughter suffered smoke inhalation but is expected to be OK.
Friends tell FOX25 the man is stable, but remains in the burn unit. The house is a total loss.
