BOSTON - Baseball Tavern was packed the night Robbie McLaughlin's life changed.
One night in May 2016, Robbie was with a group of friends at Baseball Tavern in Fenway. There was an altercation and he ended up outside the bar where he was found bloody and unconscious.
After two years with no answer as to who caused a traumatic brain injury to the young man, his family has hired a private investigator to look into it.
They believe someone must have seen something.
"His life has been altered ... and we're still attempting to find justice," Robbie's mother, Kathryn, told Boston 25 News.
Robbie is now 29 and his journey since May 2016 has been difficult and trying.
"The person who did this needs to pay for that," Kathryn said. "They had no problem taking his life away and now they’re hiding.”
She says so are the people who witnessed it.

"People know what happened and for the life of us, we don’t know why nobody is talking," Kathryn said.
Robbie spent weeks in a coma, followed by months at various rehab facilities.
"It hasn't been good, it just feels not right," he told us back in 2016.
His speech was limited. Kathryn says that has improved, along with his range of physical activities. He's now able to swim again.
For his family, they are now full-time caretakers. And they say while they appreciate the work of police, they have opted to hire a private investigator.
"We had no choice. I’m not going to stop, my husband’s not going to stop. We’re not gonna rest," she said. "We were granted a miracle by god because our son was not supposed to live. But at the same time, we are so said that he has to live the way he does now. He had so many plans and dreams and they've all been shattered."
The family has launched a new email address where they would like people to send any information that might lead to a tip in this case.
It's HelpRobbieMclaughlin@gmail.com.
