• 'Sox' will live on in LA after zoos make World Series bet for kangaroo naming rights

BOSTON - The Red Sox are back from their World Series win in Los Angeles, but one furry, lasting reminder will remain behind on the West Coast.

The Los Angeles Zoo is naming its baby kangaroo after the World Series champions as part of a friendly bet with Boston's Franklin Park Zoo ahead of the Series.

Whichever zoo lost would have to name the kangaroo after the winning team.

The joey, a western gray kangaroo who will be called "Sox", hasn't emerged yet from its mother's pouch and has a few months before it makes an appearance, the LA Zoo said on Facebook.

The Franklin Park Zoo hasn't yet said what it will call its joey, who is around the same age as Sox.
